David Lisch has created a unique blacksmith & knife making school. It features eight student forging stations and a state of the art knife making studio. We have recently moved the studio into a bigger and better space and are in the process of getting everything up and running. New classes will be posted soon, but to hear about the classes first sign up below to receive an email
Classes are offered mainly on the weekends, please inquire for private or group classes.

 A deposit of about half is usually requested to hold your place in a class. 

Great Grinds with Dave Lisch      9-4pm

This small class allows you to learn and refine you knife blade grinding skills. Spend the day in front of a belt sander and learn proper form and the correct techniques to take your knife making to the next level. This class is only about grinding the knife blade. You will leave with a blade you ground and heat treated and ready for a handle.  $225 includes all materials.


Damascus Development      

Spend 3 days with Dave Lisch and  learn how to make beautiful Damascus Steel. This is a very intensive class for the focused and adventurous. Learn how to make random pattern and W pattern damascus using a hydraulic press. Go home with some forged knife blades, maybe some jewelry material, or forged damascus for your next project.     Next class coming soon!


Introduction to Kitchen Knife Making     2 day class  9-4pm

Start with a basic knife shape blank, learn about design and layout, grind the blade, heat treat it, shape the handle and attach the handle. During this weekend course you will make a great kitchen knife. Perfect for the beginner, and anyone interested in knife making. $350 includes all materials.

Finish your Knife, finally!  one day class     9-4pm

 Finish your knife from the Great Grinds class. This one day class is focused on finish grinding, fitting and shaping the handle on the knife you started in the Great Grinds class. Bring your own handle material, or some will be available at class. $225

Shop Rat Knife Class  

This one day class is all about the small hand forged knife that you will take home completed that day.  Start with a piece of knife steel, forge the blade and handle, heat treat it, grind and sharpen it and you are good to go. $225 includes all materials. Next class coming soon!

Introduction to Blacksmith  2 day class   9-1pm

If you ever wanted to make something using hot metal and a hammer, this is your chance. Learn the fundamentals, and make 3 great project over the weekend, a leaf hook, a fire tool, and a candleholder.  Have fun and just hit it. Perfect for the beginner.   $275 includes all materials

Since, we moved into a bigger and better space so we can continue to offer great classes, including  another Stag Handle Bowie class, another Mosaic Damascus class and W2 Blades. We are still setting up the tools and getting everything up and running.

Please Remember:

All Classes Start at 9 am unless otherwise noted.

Class sizes are limited, sign up early to insure a place
Some classes are limited to 4 persons so don't wait, it may be too late.

Please wear shop appropriate clothing.
Basically this means NO fleece, because it melts. Wear natural fabrics, and closed toe shoes.
If you have safety glasses and gloves please bring them. A dust mask may be advised for some classes. We have supplies, but if you have your own, bring it.
Most classes break for lunch.
A bag lunch is suggested.
