Studio 4 Forging Facility LLC is a unique blacksmith & knife making school in Seattle. It features eight student forging stations and a state of the art knife making studio. Located in the SW corner of the turquoise building at the intersection of Spokane St and E. Marginal Way South in South Seattle.

Classes are offered mainly on the weekends, please inquire for private or group classes.

Great Grinds with Dave Lisch   May 2 2015  Full

   May 3 2015 

This  small class allows you to learn and refine you knife blade grinding skills. Spend the day in front of a belt sander and learn proper form and the correct techniques to take your knife making to the next level. This class is only about grinding the knife blade. You will leave with a heat treated and ground blade.  $200 includes materials.

Damascus Development      

Spend a 3 days with Dave Lisch and you will learn how to make beautiful Damascus Steel.  This is a very intensive class for the focused and adventurous. Learn how to make random pattern and W pattern damascus as well as basic mosaic pattern development using a hydraulic press. Go home with several knife blades, maybe some jewelry material, or forged damascus for your next project.  $750 includes all materials.

Introduction to Kitchen Knife Making    

Start with a basic knife shape blank, learn about design and layout, grind the blade, heat treat it, shape the handle and attach the handle. During this weekend course you will make a great kitchen knife. Perfect for the beginner, and anyone interested in knife making. $350 includes all the materials.

April 18-19 2015  The Triple Quenched Forged Performance Blade with ABS Master Smith Bill Burke

 During  this weekend class Bill introduces students to the intricacies of the triple quench blade as it pertains to 5160 and 52100 steels. Students will leave with their own forged and hardened triple quench blade, plus the understanding to repeat this process.  $400 includes all materials.

Shop Rat Knife Class   February 28 2015  Full

This class is all about the small hand forged knife that you will take home completed that day.  Start with a piece of knife steel, forge the blade and handle, heat treat it, grind and sharpen it and you are good to go.  $200 includes all materials.

Introduction to Blacksmith     

This is your chance to hit something hot!  This basic class will expose you to the beginning of the craft of the blacksmith. Learn the fundamentals, and make 3 great project  over the weekend, a leaf hook, a fire tool, and a candleholder.  Have fun and just hit it. Perfect for the beginner.  $250 includes all materials.

Please Remember:
All Classes Start at 9 am unless otherwise noted.

Class sizes are limited, sign up early to insure a place
Some classes are limited to 4 persons so don't wait, it may be too late.

Please wear shop appropriate clothing.
Basically this means NO fleece, because it melts. Wear natural fabrics, and closed toe shoes.
If you have safety glasses and gloves please bring them. A dust mask may be advised for some classes. We have supplies, but if you have your own, bring it.
Most classes break for lunch.
A bag lunch is suggested, but there are some great lunch places in the area.
