Studio 4 Forging Facility LLC is a unique blacksmithing & knife making school in Seattle. It features eight student forging stations and a state of the art knife making studio. Located at the intersection of Spokane St and E. Marginal Way South in South Seattle.

Shop Rat Knife Class with Dave Lisch

This small class is all about a small hand forged knife, that you will complete that day.  Start with a piece of knife steel, forge it to shape, heat treat it, grind and sharpen it and you are good to go.  $175 includes all materials.



Great Grinds with Dave Lisch

This small class is very focused, allowing you to learn and refine your blade grinding abilities.  Learn proper form and the correct techniques to take your knife making to the next level. This class is only about grinding.  You will go home with a heat treated and ground knife blade. $175 includes materials 



Introduction to Chasing and Repousse with Saign Charlestein

January 19-20 2013  9-5pm

           

Come and learn the ancient art of chasing and repousse, the intricate process of forming detailed relief in sheet metal with hammer and chisel. Saign will teach you to emboss ornamental design and take your metalworking skills to another level.  This hands-on class will introduce you to the tools and techniques involved in chasing and repousse. No experience necessary. All tools and materials will be supplied and will be available for purchase.  $250 includes material

Tomahawks with Darryl Nelson

February  9-10 2013                    FULL

Learn from the best.  Forge two tomahawks in this great class. One handle will be provided, others available to purchase.  $275

Milling Machine Folder with ABS Master Smith Michael Vagnino

3 DAYS  February 22-24, 2013  

           

In this 3 day class you will make a folding knife using 1075 steel and a milling machine.  Mike Vagnino will take you thru the basics and explain folder construction. This knife features one piece liners and bolsters.  $600 includes all materials

Introduction to Knife Making with Dave Lisch

March 9-10, 2013  

           Start with a basic knife blank, learn about layout and design, grind the blade, heat treat it, shape the handle and attach it to the blade and over the course of the weekend you will make a great knife.  Perfect for the beginner and anyone wanting to make a knife.  $325 includes materials.

W2 Knife Class with Dave Lisch

March 23-24, 2013                       FULL

 Explore what W2 knives are all about.  Focus will be on heat treating and creating a Hamon line in the steel. Students will leave with 2 heat treated W2 blades, a hunter and a bowie blade.  $400 includes materials.  Great Grinds is a prerequisite for the class.

Damascus Development with Dave Lisch

3 DAYS   April 19-21, 2013                           FULL

Spend a few days and you will learn how to make beautiful damascus steel.  This is a very intensive class for the focused and adventurous.  Learn how to make random pattern and w pattern damascus as well as basic mosaic pattern development using a hydraulic press.  $700 includes all materials

Please Remember:
All Classes Start at 9 am unless otherwise noted.

Class sizes are limited, sign up early to insure a place
Some classes are limited to 4 persons so don't wait, it may be too late.

Please wear shop appropriate clothing.
Basically this means NO fleece, because it melts. Wear natural fabrics, and closed toe shoes.
If you have safety glasses and gloves please bring them. A dust mask may be advised for some classes. We have supplies, but if you have your own, bring it.

Most classes break for lunch.
A bag lunch is suggested, but there are some great lunch places in the area.
